Environment
Alpcot Agro conducts conventional crop production. The company believes that the conditions for operating a sustainable and profitable farming business from both a cost and an environmental perspective are particularly good in the black earth areas.
By using a plough-free technique, the company achieves both environmental benefits and economies of scale. The plough-free technique reduces the number of passes in the fields. The company is also introducing a process of direct seeding in stubble after the harvest, i.e. with no additional soil preparation after the harvest, which minimizes work in the field.
The company works according to a detailed crop production plan where work is planned in advance for the various crops. The crop production plan is evaluated and adapted regularly during the crop production season through field visits. A balance between the different crops in the crop rotation is crucial in order to keep the fields fertile and reduce the need for plant protection.
The company is investing in new Western machinery equipped with GPS and automatic steering enabling fertilizing with high precision directly onto the growing crops for optimum nitrogen absorption by the plants. Since the company has invested in new tractors the environmental impact is minimised through lower emissions and lower diesel consumption.
The company has the absolute ambition to be acting in a responsible and environmentally sound manner, and the objective is to maintain and to develop the environmentally responsible policies.
